Sound installation at Heilstätte Grabowsee
Phonograph cone and diaphragm, wire, found objects, motor

In The Phonograph’s Horned Mouth Charles Grivel wrote that we invent machines that mirror ourselves. “I dream of myself, therefore I invent… I am never enough ear, for I am never enough myself.”
This work was created at Globe Gallery Residency in the abandoned Heilstätte Grabowsee in Brandenburg, Germany. In this room it is not sound itself that is recorded but rather, the act of sounding leaves a trace – a perpetuating rumination on a million grains of dust.
Needle, diaphragm, cone: with these elements sound was captured and replayed for the first time. Voice etched into matter and read aloud again.
